As predicted OBSIDIAN are back.

Some of you may have already had a letter through the post over the last few days from Obsidian asking for comments on their proposed development for 200 homes to the south of West St Tollesbury.

Please use their glossy brochure to reply to their questions and pop it in their pre-paid envelope.

Make sure that any replies to their questions cannot be mis-construed as a ‘positive’ comment, especially if you are against the plan. The questions are ‘loaded’, so please be careful. For example I’m sure you want more affordable housing. They are suggesting 84, when the most recent housing needs survey said around 50. But by answering yes to “Is there a need to increase the number of ‘affordable’ homes in Tollesbury to benefit local residents?” you’ll get the other 116 houses that aren’t ‘affordable’.

This is their second bite of the cherry, they withdrew the first time after Tollesbury submitted over 800 objection letters.

As soon as they make their formal application we will let you know and help you write objection letters to Maldon District Council.

Now is not the time to be complacent, with other developers about to submit as well. If we want to protect our village from over-development we must object.
