Tollesbury is a small village located on the Essex coast at the mouth of the River Blackwater. The village of the Plough and the Sail.

It is situated nine miles east of Maldon and twelve miles south of Colchester. With a population of around 2,700 and around 1,000 dwellings, the proposals by Obsidian of 200 new houses and Welbeck Land of 159, are both significant and unnecessary increases and these have both now been withdrawn!

The Community

Tollesbury has retained its rural character and marine heritage, with many beautiful walks and places of interest. Tollesbury Wick Marshes is a nature reserve that buffers Tollesbury from the Blackwater Estuary and is run by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The reserve occupies 240 hectares (590 acres) of grazing marsh, reed beds, saltmarsh and mudflats, and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Tollesbury has community spirit in abundance with its school, churches, places of interest, businesses, sports clubs, social clubs and other local facilities and services.

Show your opposition to unnecessary over development by volunteering and helping the community.
