A big thank you to everyone that has sent in a letter of objection against the Welbeck application for 159 houses to the north of West St.
So far it’s around 700 that have either been delivered by hand, sent in via email or registered via the planning portal at MDC.
Maldon District Council planning dept have only registered 163 of these so far, they have posted this on their website:
“We have received an exceptionally high volume of letters of comment regarding planning applications. As a result, there is a delay in processing these comments and getting them onto our systems. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to address this backlog. “

I’m sure in the coming weeks they will all get registered and appear on the website, showing yet again the feelings of Tollesbury residents and those associated with the village towards unnecessary over-development.
I have received letters from far and wide, from D’arcy to Australia, Maldon to Taipei, Southend to Amsterdam, so thank you to all those that got family, friends and work colleagues involved. A special thank you to The Lighthouse and The Kings Head for allowing is to use their facilities.
(This is getting like an OSCAR acceptance speech)
I would also like to thank the rest of the HART committee, Barry, Jean, Helen, Peter, Pete, Julia and Hazel. All those that helped deliver newsletters, knocked on doors and got letters signed, displayed signs in their gardens and generally spread the word about what we are up against.

If you haven’t sent in a letter yet, or know someone that hasn’t, it’s not too late, so keep them coming. We don’t have plans for anymore signing sessions, so come see me at 98 Mell Rd and I will try to help.
Tollesbury Parish Council are due to make their decision at their August meeting and then it’s over to Maldon District Council to make theirs. The next District Planning meeting where it is likely to be voted on is in September, but we will not know for sure until the end of August when the agenda is published. I will do my best to keep you all updated as to the progress of our campaign.
WELL DONE TEAM TOLLESBURY!!!
